With the Thanksgiving holiday upon us, we’re feeling all things festive and fall. Today’s featured wedding from Events by LMG and ZumaPhoto is the epitome of autumn style: harvest hues, apple and wheat stalk decor, a hearty local menu, banana cream pie, beer, and a rustic-chic ranch location. Utah bride Nicole Johnson (who I’ve known since our junior high days!) and groom Rich Hemingway wed at Red Cliff Ranch in September 2012. Nicole, an accountant, and Rich, a fly fishing guide, met through mutual friends in high school—Rich had just returned from a three month humanitarian trip in Africa, and they hit it off immediately. They’ve been together ever since—13 years in January! The couple recently returned from a one-year anniversary trip/honeymoon to Southeast Asia: Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, and Thailand. See photos of their big day below, and read on for more details about their wedding and vendors!
The bride, Nicole, shares some details about the big day:
Wedding Theme: We didn’t have a specific theme for our wedding. We knew we wanted it to be in the mountains that we had grown up loving and that have always been such a big part of our lives. We only looked at one venue, Red Cliff Ranch, and we knew it was perfect. The ranch has its own natural beauty, so we just tried to accentuate that and the beauty of the season.
Favorite Wedding Detail: We still get comments about how wonderful the food was at our wedding. We worked with Culinary Crafts to create a menu that was sourced locally as much as possible. The food was amazing and we couldn’t have been happier with how everything turned out.
Favorite Ceremony Moment: We wrote our own vows—being able to say them out loud to each other in front of our closest friends and family was by far the best part of the day.
Favorite Reception Moment: Our first dance to “Swept Away” by The Avett Brothers. It was so nice to have a moment that was just about the two of us.
Most Unexpected Event: During the ceremony our friend was reading a poem and the donkey at Red Cliff Ranch began braying during his reading. It was unexpected and absolutely hysterical. It made everyone laugh during what was turning out to be a tear-jerker of a ceremony.
Congratulations Nicole and Rich!
Thank you Events by LMG and ZumaPhoto for sharing this beautiful fall wedding with us today! Have a happy Thanksgiving holiday, friends!
